Also be sure, if you use brazing or silver solder, you get the right kind of material. Some kinds, I think the phosphorous-bearing, can get brittle and crack.

Feb 24, 2004 · Ernie's Jubilee was a very fine engine (it's now a museum display). Another engine in BC with a briggs boiler is Lindsay McDonnel's Brittania. I've been around a number of Brigs Boilers and they all seem to be good steamers. And the boilers are easier to construct when you don't have to deal with the water spaces around the firebox.

While the propane tank has a high pressure rating, but at what temperature?? Even low pressure steam boilers (less than 15 psi) have shell thickness of about 1/2", way more than a propane tank.

Sep 24, 2021 · The pipes in the boiler were. made of 1/8 inch wall schedule 40 pipe and the new pipes are going to be schedule 80, almost 1/4 inch thick. The first part of this. process is to cut into the water jacket to get to where the ends of the pipe are. After that one needs to use a hole saw (I used carbide.)
