It was a 1984 model and had a 10 year warranty. It was out of warranty (my first boiler install was my own home, HydroPulse- electric to gas conversion). I picked up and paid for a new Boiler Mate. Jun 06, 2014 · You should set the Boilermate temp at whatever level works for you. The lower the setting the less fuel you'll use. We typically set water heaters between 120 & 130. Higher than 130 increases the risk of scalding and is a code violation for a plumber to set it higher than 130 unless there is a tempering valve on the hot water outlet from the tank.

There should be a temperature & pressure relief saftey valve at or near the top of the tank which should be opened once a month by lifting the little lever.

If you feel hot around the top of the tank, near the relief valve, the liner has failed and the water is soaking into the insulation. Only a matter of time before it rust through the steel tank. The reason I like it is just another zone on the boiler, no exhaust vent, the tank is lined so water isn't sitting in a steel tank and rusting out and because we are on a well, many people with traditional hot water heaters have issues with the anode rod causing the water to smell bad.
